Jane R. Wood, award-winning author of four juvenile fiction books, uses her experience as a classroom teacher, a parent, a newspaper reporter and television producer in creating her books. Her first three books (Voices in St. Augustine, Adventures on Amelia Island: A Pirate, a Princess and Buried Treasure, and Trouble on the St. Johns River) are set in Florida, and all have received Mom’s Choice Awards®, a national award given for “quality family-friendly products.” In her newest book (Ghosts on the Coast: A Visit to Savannah and the Low Country), she takes her main characters to Savannah, Charleston and Pawleys Island, South Carolina – all cities rich in history and ghost stories. Wood captures kids’ imaginations with mystery, adventure and humor, while placing her characters in settings and situations that teach young readers about the history and environment of that area. Her books are used in schools across the country. Wood was born in Astoria, Oregon, but moved to Florida when she was 10. She earned a B.A. from the University of Florida and an M.Ed, from the University of North Florida. Visit her website: www.janewoodbooks.com.
